How to Renew Wooden Gate and Fences

We live in Southern California, dry weather and hot sun would cause damages to wooden gates and fences.  If not kept up, the wood could be deteriorated.  In this video, Dave will show us how he restored and resurface a wooden gate.  

This is a simple project involving 3 major steps:

1. Fix any possible wood damages.
2. Sand the surface.
3. Paint.

To get ready for the project, following tools and material should be ready:

1. Protective gears such as eye protection goggles, hardware gloves, and industrial strength mask.
2. Long screws for fixing the wooden board if needed
3. Electric Drill
4. Sander and Sand Paper
5. Painting Supplies such as drop clothes, painter tapes, brushes, and paint rollers, and container for the paint.
6. Last but not least, the Paint, for our project, we used the BEHR House and Fence Wood stain.  

This project took us about 4 hours to complete.
