The hood for our car would not stay up because the hood Gas Strut has worn out. We purchased the Stabilus Lift-O-Mat strut. We picked this one because it is a direct OEM replacement with good quality.
Hood Strut
It is an easy DIY project. The dealer wanted to charge $150 (USD) for that. We got it done for less than $50. For safety, make sure the hood is securely opened with support before working on the strut. The hood strut can be purchased at any auto part store. Make sure to the right one for your car model. Once it is ready, all you need is a screw driver to work on this project. Should take no more than 30 mins.
In this video, Dave shows us how to replace the gas strut for the hood. The same work for any similar strut like the hatchback trunk door. If you like the video, please like and subscribe! Thank you for watching!
